Inland Empire Energy Center

Menifee, CA

The Inland Empire Energy Center was an 800-megawatt gas-fired generating station consisting of (2) each 7H gas turbines using heat recovery steam generators (HRSG’s) feeding the combined cycle steam side on a single-shaft design. Cooling water was on a closed-loop system and featured a 16-cell cooling tower. The plant was commissioned in 2009 and operated until 2019. Operations were ceased due to the economic viability of plant operations.

Silverado performed the demolition of generating units 1 and 2, two (2) each 200’ steel stacks, gas turbine intake structures, gantry cranes, turbine decks, cooling tower, brine water tanks, demineralized water tanks, and misc. support features. All structures were removed to a depth of 12’ below grade. Power blocks were left in place for future development and potential use of the concrete slabs. Circulating water lines were grout-filled and steel cap welded and abandoned in place.
